The China Teachers Alliance was originally started in 2008 in Pudong, Shanghai by a group of both foreign teachers and local Chinese teachers. In 2010 we opened a branch in Beijing. Our mission was to help new tecahers establish themselves with progressive training, without getting exploited and cheated by corrupt school administrations. In 2012 we accused a certain deputy minister within the Ministry of Education of Nepotism, and the leaders of our volunteer organization did not get our visas renewed. Fortunately, that former deputy minister was arrested and imprisoned recently, so Doug, Bryan, Ruth, and myself have returned to China and reconnected with some old members and Chinese teachers. Unfortunately, David Wyler lost his bout with cancer and is no longer with us. We hope to share all that we know about China to help other teachers succeed. We do cooperate with other teacher-orientated groups on a non-commercial basis.
